Pinocchio Children's Library
Collodi, Italy
The Pinocchio Children's Library constitutes the RDHA submission into an open international competition to design a new children's library in Collodi, Italy, the birth place of the creator of the much loved fairy tale, Pinocchio. The scheme provides space for a children's library, a public exhibition space, and a large auditorium, with the intent to celebrate the story of Pinocchio and a vast collection of fairy tales from the world over. Our design concept promotes the idea of the building as a figure in the landscape, utilizing an organic form that aspires to be a living, breathing, and performative piece of public architecture.
