The City of Whitehorse's new Operations Centre had its public unveiling on Sep 24 and posted a Building Tour video on the City's Facebook page. The project was built to 84% above the national Energy Code of Canada requirements, and includes 1,050 solar modules and 3 inverters installed on the roof, and two double electric vehicle charging stations. RDHA worked on the project in association with Kobayashi Zedda Architects (KZA) of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
The new building houses the following departments: Operations (Transportation, Equipment Maintenance, Traffic Systems and admin staff); Water and Waste (Utility Systems, Waste Services and admin staff); Engineering; Human Resources; Safety Function; and Transit.
“On behalf of Council, both past and present, we’re so proud to finally be able to unveil this beautiful new facility,” said Mayor Dan Curtis. “Our staff have been working in sub-par conditions for a long time so we are very excited to provide them with a modern and spacious work environment.”
