Guildwood GO Station received an Infrastructure Award and was voted 2019 Ontario Concrete Project of the Year. The project is a simple linear composition comprised of a station building, utility building, plazas and tunnel access pavilions, and is located on a narrow interstitial space between an existing parking lot and bermed rail corridor on the north side of the property at 4105 Kingston Road in Toronto.
Following Metrolinx’s initiative to make improvements to its facilities, the original 1977 station was redeveloped to provide enhanced accessibility, stronger visual identity and increased flexibility to accommodate future track expansions and electrification.
The redevelopment involved seven major scope items requiring concrete construction to facilitate the structural and architectural requirements of the project: station building, utility building, tunnel entrance structures, tunnels, platforms, fourth track retaining wall, plazas and landscape. See the Ontario Concrete Awards project page for details.
