We are proud to have received a 2022 Governor General’s Medal in Architecture for the Idea Exchange Old Post Office in Cambridge, Ontario – a transformative renovation and addition to Thomas Fuller’s Galt Post Office (1887). Principals Tyler Sharp and Bob Goyeche were presented the medal during a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, on Tuesday, January 24 by Her Excellency, Governor General Mary Simon. The Governor General's Medals in Architecture recognize and celebrate outstanding design in recently built projects created by Canadian architects.
In conjunction with the official ceremony, Principal and Design Director Tyler Sharp presented the Idea Exchange project at a public lecture at the Canadian Museum of History alongside the other recipients.
With 14 awards for the Idea Exchange and counting, we are grateful for our project team, including Juan Caballero, Ivan Ilic, and Simon Routh, the City of Cambridge, and all the collaborators who made this progressive community space possible. A big congratulations to all the other medal recipients for their outstanding work and contribution to Canadian architecture.
